new version

The latest features added to the site include:
  • Create a profile -- go to Settings > Account to add/update your name, age, gender, location, one line bio, etc.
  • Private jet stream -- instead of your jets showing in the global jet stream (on the homepage), tick the Make Jet Stream Private box in Settings > Account. Only your followers will be able to view your jets!
  • Invitation feature -- fill in your friends' email addresses in Settings > Invite and press Send to invite friends to follow you.
  • Follow/Stop Following right from the jet stream (hover over the jet or picture to see the link under the profile pic).
  • We've also made some improvements to media viewing and cell phone navigation.
More to come!

Exciting New Features

We know you've been anxiously awaiting a few new features, and today our team pushed some of these live. Among the fixes and features is the capability to post to one jetstream no matter from which email address you're sending. To access this feature, click the Email Posting tab within your Settings. Set your email code and send all your jets to that address. Hooray!

You can also link to a YouTube video within a comment and it will expand (like it would if it were a jet), comments show upon jet expansion, link directly to a jet change... and for those of you with email signatures please add "=/=" in your post, and anything below will not appear! Voila!

Emoticons!

The MobJet team has added emoticon capabilities... see below for the codes!

Another Release

The MobJet Team is working hard to deliver new features frequently. Today's release has included some user-friendly improvements and a little clean up.
  • You'll now be able to view a user's followers and followings... you're not just a number any more!
  • Receiving emails from MobJet has become more beautiful -- html emails instead of simple text
  • The Japanese user experience has been improved with some translation tweaks
  • Improved mobile version of MobJet
  • Streamlined comments feature -- now using AJAX so there's no more pressing "back" to find where you were before you made the comment
Enjoy!

MobJet Gets Noticed in Singapore

Celebrity blogger Xiaxue has MobJet on her radar.

She's stoked about the flexibility MobJet offers, especially the ability to post anything to your jetstream. "I'm really impressed. When they say anything, they REALLY mean anything!" She raves about the mobile phone capabilities, conversions, and even refers to our developers as geeks. It's true -- they are the biggest and coolest geeks we've ever met. They're our geeks… We gladly claim them. Thank you, MobJet Geeks, for making our technological lives a breeze and all our dreams come true :)

Xiaxue likes MobJet so much that she'll be a special guest at our MobJet Launch Party on Oct. 22nd in Singapore. See the invitation for details on how to get a free ticket to this exciting event!

View Xiaxue's jetstream at mobjet.com/xiaxue or follow her by emailing get.xiaxue@mobjet.com. And don't forget to check out her full take on MobJet here!

New Features!

MobJet has recently rolled-out a couple new and useful features!
  • Search -- You can now search jets for a user or content. No more scrolling and clicking... search and find what you're looking for quickly. Use the search box in the upper-right corner for zippy results.
  • Autopost -- We've combined the posting power of three into one! Post now to MobJet and it will simultaneously post to Twitter and Facebook. Just enable autopost (My Account > Autopost) to connect your accounts. Finally, life has become a bit more simple. Thank you MobJet development team!
Keep your eye open for more features being released soon... happy Jetting!

DNS Troubles

A couple of days ago MobJet.com experienced some down time due to a DNS failure at the domain service level. This outage appears to have been a problem for many people and caused quite a stir on the Internet. Unfortunately, MobJet was affected by this problem as well. To read more about the outage, check out this TechCrunch article.

Everything is up and running today, we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

MobJet is Big in Japan

We made it. The MobJet development team spent the last week in Japan preparing for a splash on the Japanese scene. After a sleepless night working in cramped hotel rooms in Kayabacho, near the financial district of Tokyo, the team pushed final changes to MobJet for a presentation in front of 2,000 Japanese.

With servers scaled and ready to handle posts from the 2,000 simultaneous posts to post@mobjet.jp, things went off without a hitch. The crowd took pictures from their mobile phones and instantly posted to MobJet. As a team we're excited for tomorrow where we're off to meet current and potential investors to tell them about our success in Japan.

Japanese users can now send their posts to post@mobjet.jp and follow users by emailing get@mobjet.jp. We're working to add additional language features as well as additional languages very soon.

Release Day

It's release day here at MobJet, so here comes the first blog post. With the new video recording capability on the iPhone, and with the recent events in Iran being shaped by the Internet and social media, we're feeling pretty good about the timing of the release of MobJet. We believe that multimedia microblogging will give people an additional voice to visually show the world the news and events happening around them. The world is changing rapidly and MobJet plans to be a part of the instant news movement. At MobJet, we want to make it as simple as possible to post your media to the web and allow people to follow you. Although it may seem primitive to some, posting via email is one of the simplest ways for people on any device to get their content to the web. When you take a video or picture on the iPhone, you have the option to immediately email the image/video you just captured. With MobJet, all you have to do is send it to post@mobjet.com, and we do the rest. We identify you from your email address and post it to your very own multimedia microblog or "jetstream" as we like to call it.

One of the guiding principles at MobJet is to allow anyone in the world to capture and consume media directly from any web-enabled device. As you may have noticed, our tagline is "When 140 characters just isn't enough." An obvious shot across the bow of Twitter, we also hope to "play nice" and consume Twitter's API to allow people to immediately notify their Twitter feed of new media posts they have on MobJet. You'll have pictures, video, audio, and documents instantly posted to your Twitter feed.

That's the quick scoop. Tonight at midnight, send an email to post@mobjet.com to create your account and your jetstream, it's that simple. Tonight is a "soft launch," not too many know about us yet, but look for us to quickly be in over 20 languages and hitting the world scene.
